Let’s Talk About the Rainbow

I’m in the midst of a trance; a conflict of essence, at crossroads with the world- I’m rebellious; not conforming to my ‘truer self’ I’m selfish; wanting a taste of both male and female worlds I’m demented; an idle mind doing the devil’s work I’m lost; washed up and degraded by a tsunami of western culture.

I’m a mistake- whatever that’s supposed to mean? I’m not perfect of course- this much I should know. but what I am is human- a creature of free will, wants and desires. So why don’t I get to choose who I become? Am I not another slave to a heart’s yearnings? Then why face judgment from fellow prisoners? Or is it for the different linking on my chains? Why diminish my human experience?

We love who we love- This shouldn’t be taken at face value We are who we are- Freedom shouldn’t pose like a statue whenever faced with LGBT realities. Expressions vary between individuals- so do choices and lifestyles. If I don’t feel safe in my own body, should I just crawl and die? If I see someone in my gender as a hottie, should I feign straight in a sigh?

So let’s talk, let’s go through the garbage Let’s talk and see what to salvage Let’s talk, about the outright rejections Let’s talk, about therapeutic conversions Let’s talk, about the fear in my community Let’s talk, about the stigma in our vicinity Less talk on the constraints of culture More talk on the promise of closet departure cause right now it’s a battle in the dark- with no clear foes; just fighting humanity lest it turns into the war in Iraq Let's talk, but let’s do so with clarity. -Dikizo The Poet
